Pleasant New Year to All
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I know I am a bit late with this but you know, we are always super busy! I had 3 wild weeks packed with fun so I can’t wait to share it with you all!
On a Thursday night my past Hungarian school had its school formal. It was a real party night. This is like the prom in the States. All the year 12 people (seniors) dress up and deck themselves out as snobbish and posh as they can! The chix are wearing these beautiful wedding-dresses with this massive crinolines under it, and it’s just impossible to walk properly in it! It was funny watching the girls how they tried to protect their ground-sweeping dresses from the lost dirty feet.
Okay I must make it absolutely clear that my bass guitarist girl Anna was the most beautiful! She said :”Hey Kata, are you gonna write about our formal and put some photos up to the coolgrrls website PLEASE??? „ There she goes….
My New Years was pretty cool. I was invited to about 15 parties but I took none of them rather did my own party with my friends. We went downtown to watch the fireworks and the countdown. The city was so packed! Just imagine Budapest has 2 million residence! The funny thing is we planned on hooking up with some rad foreign and we didn’t even have to look for them, they’re just happened to find us. Oh yeah, we were so popular. Bloke magnet . . . hihi They were all stickers, at the end we could hardly brush them off. At midnight we were terribly clumsy with shooting out the plug, but me and Anna both rolled down two bottles of champagne per kopf! Lucky that Anna claimed she hated champagne!
There was this other big show on Hysteria 2001, which we luckily didn’t choose to stay longer, with tons of Hungarian and other foreign bands. Picture this: huge tents-within-tents, 5 different sorts of music, but there’s no way to swap tents cuz of the incredible amount of people. The organisers wanted to pull down lotza money and they let in twice as many people as fitted. It is winter time here, about -2 C so they used all these big massive heaters but you could only feel their warmth if you stood really close to them. But in the other hand no one attempted to approach them being in a funk that their clothes might catch fire! It took like over an hour to put the bags + coats + jackets and all the warm stuff you had on to the cloakroom. Wait, wait the punch line is just coming! So 3 o’clock in the morning when you crawled out barely alive to pick your stuff up, you had to accept the fact that the cloakroom got ripped off and some bastards stole about 300 people’s belongings! Yeah happy new year!
You will be compensated for the damage if you can show an authentic receipt of your loss! Well do we keep the bills of our 8-month-ago-bought jackets and identity cards and stuff?!? I think you’d rather look for newly-opened suspicious coat stores where you might find traces of your missing things. Good luck!
Well after freezing our butt off we decided by a party in a pretty groovy club, Süss fel nap (Sun come out) and we ended up dancing there till 5 am. We pretended that we are Australians and everyone kept inviting us for drinks for a wonder!
Last weekend I went to Vienna, Austria with my folks, we did a BIT of a shopping and stuff. I was on hunt for a big winter jacket …. and several other things… I told my mom once that I’d NEVER want to wear a pink winter jacket. Well I think I don’t have to say what kinda jacket I bought! Gee, what goes around really does come back to kick you in the ass sometimes!
I also met an Australian guy, Attila. His dad is Hungarian but Attila just moved to Budapest for uni. He seems super cool, and I am stocked to have an aussie friend in Hungary. Oh can you see me, I’m indulging in nostalgia.
Okay now my little messages:
1) go to napster and download some ‘Get up kids’ stuff, they rock – even though they are guys – my fave one is Mass Pike
2) if you are already on napster download the Incubus song ‘Miss you’. I would dedicate it to Mark!
3) I still have a secret admirer! Actually I think they are multiplied!!! When I got back from Australia someone sent me a bunch of flowers … no clue…. then 2 weeks later someone started ringing me …no idea ….. 3 weeks after another person called me up!!! What is this?! I wonder where do all these people have my telephone number????? Nevermind … my heart is someone else’s ..oh oh oh
4) The Big Day Out is on in Australia! I’m so jealous of you all in Oz!!! I wanna be there too! So please don’t spare contacting me and telling me all the things happening there!
If you didn’t know, we are starting out with a new band. Anna and I still wanna keep rocking and we are searching for a lead guitarist and a new drummer. I have already received like 1000 calls and messages but we are soooooo picky…..hihi. I’m pretty excited though, cuz we can record some stuff for absolutely free and have some rad places in Germany, Holland and Belgium where we could play …. so maybe a summer tour ..maybe baby!
Hugs
Kata
