Recording is so Sweet
Hi there coolcats it’s me again,
YES…Guess what..I don’t believe it, Moler actually made it into the recording studio! It’s been a long time coming… In two days we managed to record 16 tracks. Drums, bass and guitar with none other than the legendary Tony Cohen behind the Neive mixing console at Hothouse Studios, St. Kilda. (I feel like I’m writing a news column now). Now I’ve dumped it all from 2 inch tape onto my computer and trying to decipher it all…
So here I am singing away at the computer again, wondering what the people living across the street think I’m doing if they can see me…It’s so cold here I have to wear gloves to keep my hands from losing all circulation.
Saw ‘The Filth and the Fury’ at the George Cinemas a couple of days ago…thought it might inspire me, a bit anger, a bit of energy, passion, so sad about Sid…I admire John for saying what he did about heroin, “kills all creativity”. It kills personality, it kills people. Last week I started work on a video clip for an up and coming band ‘Sodaracer’. Low budget clip, lots of fun- although my stress levels were running hot…I was still getting over the Moler recording…
I haven’t seen any bands lately either, taking a bit of a well earned break from live gigs. My eardrums needed a break….
In fact I’ve had a bad run lately, first some #**% stole my car and I still haven’t got it back, then I left my mini disc player and microphone on a tram (someone scored well), my coolgrrrls watch broke cos I caught it on a door today…just what else am I gonna loose? Well my sanity is still hanging in there…just! No really I’m so excited that the Moler songs are coming along..especially since we wrote 5 brand spanking newies…3 haven’t even got lyrics yet AAAHHH!! Last night I dragged my sorry ass out to an art exhibition. My friend, Tim Belle, had some landscape photographs in it. (He took the photo of me above this page.) They were pretty good too. They were macro photos of cement and rocks or something…there was a big magnifying glass you could use to get an even closer look but knowing my luck if I touched it, it would’ve fallen off the wall. The other piece I quite liked was a sculptured mountain made out of household carpet… it looked very funny…like someone really has too much time on their hands… Had some nice Stoli Vodka whilst chatting to my other friend Mark. He plays in an ace band called ‘Moondriven’, I think I’m gonna break my band watching drought and see them play this weekend and tonight another band…I don’t know what they’re called yet but I think I know everyone in it…noise band or something…Japanese grrrl Kamiko screaming Japanese…sound familiar? ..should be good.
well that’s about it for now it’s midnight and I gotta walk home …
till next update
stay cool
xxxxxxxx
