So Much To Do!

how are you all? A special hello to coolgrrrl Barbie, you look fabulous on the calendar grrrl!
Me, I’m busy with this new digital video editing course. I’m only a week into it and I’ve learnt so much already. I’m basically doing it so I can edit this music show together quickly and easily. I think the show is going to be called ‘ANXT’….I can’t wait to really get into the nitty gritty….which rhymes with kitty…..hmmmm….
just word associated with this ace band called ‘Up Kitty’. 3 piece grrrl band from Melbourne..who are just soooo cute! I love their song, ‘This is Not the Real Me’ reminds me of ‘Shang Ri La’s’ crossed with ‘The Beachboys’ or something..so delightfully grrrly. If you live in Melbourne, you must see them, they’ve got a very bright future.
Bands…well it is Spring …. the time of year when all the Northern hemisphere bands, who are rich enough, migrate South for the winter! Yes, we have just had Yo La Tengo…rats I missed them…about to have Lou Reed, Boss Hog, No Doubt and I’m sure plenty more but hey AC/DC are touring – ALRIGHT!!!…. And there is the festivals as well…Livid, Big Day Out, Meredith, Sunny Sedgewick, Homebake, Vans Warped…etc…a chance to either get really sunburnt or rained on whilst moshing along in the mud pit to your favourite band. Ahhh summer time, I can’t wait! Just when is an Aussie band gonna headline The Big Day Out – huh????
I saw ‘Magic Dirt’ play a week ago or so at this very groovy venue called ‘The 9th Ward’. It was a very inspirational show indeed and couldn’t help myself from dancing–swaying–grooving up the front with my new friend, Helen. (she’s the promoter of ‘The 9th ward’ ..and by the way not all of us grrrls from Australia are called Helen, OK!) They’ve got a new single out, ‘Dirty Jeans’, which is being followed up by an album which is really pop compared to their last recordings, they were..more experimental in guitar fuzz noize! Anyway, Adalita has used a new singing technique which sounds kinda like…Chrissie Hynde’s vibrato! Amazing! She does it so well. Kick Ass Dirt Bags! YOU ROCK! …and they’re all soooo sexy to boot, I mean take your pick!!!! hee hee
Week before that…I tried to catch ‘The Res Heads’ at the same venue, but alas I just missed their set cos I was barmaidin’ it… glad I went anyway cos this band ‘Dallas Crane’ were playing. It was their CD launch and it was packed! I saw those guys play a year or so ago and thought they were pretty good but geez they’ve gotten so much better and more confident, it was great to see! Fantastic stuff guys!
Antibody actually had a ‘real’/'loud’ rehearsal last week, you know.. my side project… with Celeste! I must say it was GREAT FUN, the songs were actually starting to sound good by the third or fourth run through! (I always knew they would) At last we had actually made it out of the lounge room….it was really weird playing standing up but good to be using feedback and having Dave Peacock slappin’ the skins, (Dave was Moler’s 1st eva drummer) Tomorrow night…we have our 2nd eva jam and this time we will have a bass player, they call him ‘Steve Merkin’. He played guitar with Moler for a short while..actually it was still called, ‘Snuff’ back then, before we discovered the english band. Steve is a great guitar player who will be on bass and me on guitar when I usually play bass.. go figure… I can hardly play four notes in succession on the guitar, the strings are so small and fiddley …anyway I think we are trying to go for the niave charm approach…that’s my theory anyway!!!
Well, the latest on the Identity Crisis, dear Readers! My God, you know how I cut my hair short and went red….Well guess what? I just saw a new pic of the Superjesus grrrl, Sarah, and she now has THE SAME HAIRCUT!!!!! AAAHHHHH!!! This is just getting ridiculous! As soon as I saw it I had to get the scissors out and started choppin’- not that there was much left to chop, if I went 
much shorter people will think I’m trying to copy Sinead O’Conner! Now, you see just how hard it is to be an individual rocker of the chick variety!! No wonder Madonna changes her image all the time, ya gotta stay ahead of the pack!
Now I must apologize to Sarah (Superjesus) for being sooo bitchy a couple of updates ago.. Sarah is actually a lovely person with a fantastic singing voice. What i meant is that I don’t like her band’s music or people saying I am trying to copy her. I just wanna be THE HELCAT OK… it just so happens that Sarah and I are both rock chicks..with the same haircuts.. that have to put up with blokes in our bands …have mercy! Anyway Sarah, if you are reading this, I reckon you should sack the boys and go solo grrrl, you deserve all the success in the world! and I do like the song you did with ‘The Pound System’.
OK….now I’ve gotten that one out of my system! Phew…
AND.. Helen you moron, yes that’s me, you can’t even spell the country Chille, can you! My apologies to the nation of Chille for calling it Chilli???? ..god..is that how spell that???? my brain hurts
and while I’m on apologies…..ummm yeah…sorry I haven’t had any pics posted for awhile….I’ll get on to that one of these days…if ya just hang in there…
Now my friend Celeste wanted to add a few words …
“To Whom It May Concern,
So what is it about ‘cool’? Is it when the sun’s shiney and everthing’s good and I’m feeling fine or is it more like, when I’m cool it looks like the sun’s shining out of my ass but inside I’m so fucked up I can’t go down the street and buy milk for my coffee. The worst disease is the disease of cool, when I think that if I act cool everthing is cool when I’m dying inside and feel like chopping my right arm off at the wrist just to feel the pain and make me feel like, yes, I am alive, I have blood, it can be spilt.
All these grrrls are so cool it’s fucking unnatural. Where is all the abuse and all the hate and all the fuck yous that drive music, that drive us grrrls to rock and display or pain like transvestite peacocks. I’m not cool. I’m not anything. When I feel like this I just wish it was pain but I know its just another day and I’m still not bloody and there’s no sun and I’m completely fucked off my skull and there’s nothing I can do about it.
So I let go. And the rock saves me from a million years in hell. I’m not cool and I’m not hot. But I’ve got the ROCK.
