Christmas Day Rumble Uplifted Holidays

A while back, a long while back, it was Christmas. We are all trying to do our best forgetting it; all the nasty food we had to eat, all the relatives you had to meet that scares you more than Freddy K….And, then there were good times. They weren´t many, but for me and a bunch of other punkrockers, there was one; the Christmas Day Rumble at Club Massattraction in Lund. A bunch of bands and a bunch of drunk people….and one armed to the teeth with a camera. It wasn´t me this time, I was working as a “hat-check-girl”/leather-jacket reciever, so I asked Honk. Usually he doesn´t see things the way I see them and the strangest things always happens when he´s around. I have never seen a roll of film that he has taken without naked bodyparts doing the strangest things..even a penis bathing in mashed potatoes…And so also this time, but I don´t think you are that interested in naked punkrock-asses but if you are, I feel really bad if I am withholding you something….

Unfortunately, not too many people showed up. It´s always the same old gang, with 2 or 3 newcomers tops. People in Sweden don´t go to punkrock-shows even if they are the most hardcore punkrock-fans…I can babble and scream about this over and over, and I always end up doing it, but the punkrock-kiddies don´t show up. They make “actionrock&supershitty to the maxx”-websites where they declare that they are oh, so evil punkrockers who dig Maggots, 69hard and Flaming Sideburns and to top it off, they put some Bettie Page pic on top, but they don´t show up at the shows…It´s all about image and the web is the place…But, if they go out, they put their little punkrock-costume on, with all the right details they have seen at rockabillydating.com and in the fashionmags Dazed&Confused or I-D. Of course, their main interest at the show are to look cool and to disect everybody else; “what are they wearing? are the rock enogh? is that shirt really punkrock?!”…It is all about image. I will probably wallop some little kid like this one day and when you read this, I probably will have. Go to the shows or keep your trendy mouth shut!

As I said before I started puffing about trendy-kiddies, a bunch of bands where playing; C-Men, KnockUp, Killer Nuns, Thunderdog and the Bones, Violent Work of Art and the Bones. But with 15 minutes per band, you don´t get to see much, especially not if you´re in the wardrobe..
C-Men were doing a new song “Only Lies” but scared the audience off at first with their intro; “Dueling Banjos”. This is the song all the of the C-Men´s girlfriends have learned to hate..and most other people too for that matter…They also had a Bölle on stage which by now means = naked man in a Santos mask. That also scared a few people off. Then there was one of those naked bodyparts I was mentioning before…and Santos happily spanked it. And the man who´s ass was getting spanked, tried to sing as good as he could while his face was getting bright red….
It sounded good. They had fun. We had fun. What more can be expected?!

The KnockUp have just released a new 7″ , “V.S Everybody” on Pure Vinyl and it is 5 songs on white vinyl. The singer has also gotten a new stagename and it is not taken by himself in order to sound “actionrock”…He IS Andy Obnoxious and he has nowadays the stageact to live up to his name. Didn´t see much as I was runnign between the wardrobe and the stage…but it sounded good and I saw Andy O crawling on stage…

Killer Nuns
…. well, we need insanity in Lund. Everybody is so neat and proper. The only wild thing people here to, is get wasted on punch and cross the street two meters from the crossing.
The singer Eric is known for 3 things that makes him stand out from the usual Lund citizen; he has a wild, curly harircut, a red leatherjacket and he is a GOOD dj. Now, he is also known for his big bush. His other big bush. The Caveman Eric that brings the Cramp-stomp to Lund, which is much needed. Never knew that Killer Nun existed, but have to check them out…

Violent Work of Art isn´t my bag, but they´re probably the band with the biggest fanbase that played that day. After a review in Swedish rock/metal-mag CloseUp that named them best demo-band last year, they got the attention they needed. They play some sort of inustrial metal. Growling anxiety in a can. Wktor, the bassist, is also a member of Thunderdog and the Bones. They played at the first Club Massattracion ever together with C-Men….and I loved it. Retro-rock and punkrock all mixed into one. Have released a promo but I guess more is on the way….

The Bones…If you scoll down, you can read about their last gig at Club Massattraction. They were loved. They had fun.And they sold quite a bunch of merch….and almost ended up with a Honk as payment, twice. They politely declined. They have just released their full-lenght “Screwed, Blued & Tattooed” on Danish label IUsedToFuckPeopleLikeYouInPrison.

It was a strange night. And there will soon be more. The 26th, Club ElCurado are back with a bang; the Neanderthals are playing.
The 1st of February, Buisness will play at Mejeriet……..and more to come.
