Meet my Friends

Where is Kata? Where has she been? What has she done? And why hasn’t she written for so long? – these are the kind of questions that I received in the last couple of months. Yeah I seemed to disappear for a while, but now I am back! And I’m pretty happy that you’ve missed me!J

Well lately I danced in groovy discos & extreme raves, jumped around with raging people at hardcore gigs, visited fancy fashion shows and drank champagne with some posh people, amazed at high flying snowboarders, so you know, I have just done the usual Kata stuff!

I think there’s no such a dance club in Budapest that I haven’t been with my friends.

The security guards started to recognize me…..hmmmm….. just imagine all those free tickets! Now I have to worm myself into the bar-attendants’ confidence. I got to know some really cool people lately, and I can’t help praising them exuberantly!

BABETTE

…… is 19, super crazy and duper extreme. She is a photographer. You can’t hardly witness her without the camera on her eyes. She is just completely obsessed! In Hungary there was a pretty big flooding – not where I live! – the Tisza started to rise. When Babette heard the news in the radio she immediately packed her stuff and drove 4 hours to get to the spot. ACTION is her motto. Well she is crazy enough to hang out with so she is just a perfect friend.

ZSIGMOND

…… is 23, red – even though he considers himself blondish-brownish-fairish mixture, everything but red! – and my new boyfriend. WOW! He does modelling, goes to shootings and takes part in TV commercials. He is also into extreme things, jumps 7 stairs easily with his inline-skate and loves all kinds of sport. And at last he is one of my students in the English Language school, where I teach.

OLIVÉR

…… he is crazy as the above-mentioned two. He does competition aerobics and picks up girls steadily. He is good at everything, but sometimes just acts sooo childish. He’s pretty clever and seems to know the ins and outs of handy things.

So these are the people whom I spent my last 2 months with.

I also went to an outrageously fantastic concert with two of the best Hungarian hardcore bands on the list: Dawncore (www.dawncore.com) and FreshFabrik (http://fabrik.menta.hu/). I dressed up like a trendy model, put my kick-ass knee-high-boots on and off we went! It was huge, the place was packed with fanatic hardcorers. There was hardly any girls, which was a wonder! I reckon girls should come to these kinda gigs, at least to pick up a good-looking male pal. When Dawncore started their set I just realized that I knew the guitar player, because we share the same rehearsal room! Yeah blondies! I couldn’t really get into the mosh-pit, because of the amount of headbangers and board-shouldered, double-door-wardrobes!

FreshFabrik was amazing! I wasn’t into their music that much before, but after this concert I have to admit that I had to change my opinion! They rock! So does their fans. I had so much fun with moshing, I couldn’t even leave the crowed until the end of the show! They let us stage-dive, which was a good point again! I didn’t really care with my outfit I pulled myself up to the stage and kept jumping and crowed surfing…..yummm! I was the only girl! Yeah, thank you, thank you! Once when I got up the stage the keyboarder had the mic and approached me and gave me a huge hug and wanted me to sing the song with him! As I mentioned I wasn’t a big fan so I had no clue about the lyrics, didn’t even knew the word any of the songs!!!! I quickly dived into the crowed!

There were so many cameras around and in the end of the show I found out that they were filming the band and the audience for a new video clip! Oh my gosh! I don’t wanna be in a video clip while my shirt is falling off and me dancing on stage! When I got home my mom looked at me an noticed that my shirt got at least 2 size bigger and the toe of my boots looked like that a road-roller went across them. ‘I thought you were a bit long in the tooth!’ – she said. I guess no! But this is all nothing! On Monday I had to go teaching to the language school and there is a punk-rocker chap. When we met he greeted me loudly and conversation went like this:

‘You were good on Saturday.’ – he told me with a grin.

‘Beg your pardon! I don’t teach on Saturdays’ – I had absolutely no clue what he was talking about. I gave him a funny look.

‘Nice jump! I reckon you will get in the video clip!’

……

‘Oh so you were also there, and saw me stage-diving. Nice!’ Well this conversation was conducted with the present of two head-teachers, and they both started asking about the details. I wished the earth would open and swallow me up.

I also have some news about my band…..almost girls…… because we ended up with a boy drummer, Bálint. But he was too nice to let him go and not put him to the big band! We also have a new bass player, Rita, who is damn talented and I love writing songs with her. We’re absolutely thinking in the same way. More news later….

JAILHOUSE is a pretty groovy place in the heart of Budapest and on Saturdays there are always bombastic drum and bass parties. I am not that much into that kinda music – actually I can’t stand it! – but it’s fun to go sometimes. When you enter the club what you see is a huge amount of people with extreme clothes, sunnies, whistles, spiky hair, purple hair, dreadlocks, funky lingering, bright lights and of course there are the DJs and d&b. The only weird thing was the way how people danced! I don’t wanna get rude but it reminded me of having sex. People shook their body to and fro. It’s the drum and bass dance. Same as goa! You with me? Hmmm

On last Sunday we went to a very posh show. It was the opening ceremony of a new women magazine connected with a fashion show. It was pretty exclusive, you know by invitations only! But my mom was managed to smuggle Zsigmond and me in!!! The delicious food, cheeses, vines, cocktails, endless tables packed with fruits and all these mouth-watering sweets were only an insignificant part of the night. We have seen heaps of famous Hungarian riporters, actors, actresses, models, photographers and journalists. We weren’t able to stay more than an hour, because snobbishness and the way these people act easily pissed me off. When they thought nobody could see them they threw their cigarette butts to the ground, spilled their drinks on the table, chewed their food with wide-open mouth and tried to get the meat pieces out of their teeth with their fingernails. YUK! Even though we haven’t won the 2-week-Paris-trip, neither the newest Ford Sierra, large and by we had tons of fun ate delicate food. Can’t wait to go again!

I also conducted an interview with the German newcomer band Die Happy. They are pretty cool, four-piece-band from Ulm. The leader chick Marta rocks. If you got the chance, check them out definitely. I promise it’s worth of it!

Now I think I crawl back my bed and continue the recovering from yesterdays roller-skating night! All these black and blue bruises all around my body. Maybe I would have told them that I couldn’t skate!!!!!!!
