Cozmic Cat back on the scene! Crispy and clean… word em up it’s getting to be that summertime when all the headz who were hidin’ out and hibernating get busy once again and start to check out the Philly club scene… and what a scene it is! Philly is home to thousands of starvin’ and homeless djs, each wavin’ a sign that says “will spin for food!” haha… i’m tellin’ ya party people! dj culture is reachin’ fever pitch up here with more and more bar/lounge joints unplugging their jukeboxes and hook’n up with real sound of the funky deeeejjjjjjaaaaayyy!… and its Aaaalll good, cos this cat is workin’! here’s a brief rundown of some of the news on the Philly scene…
First I’d like to post a call to all female djs out there… let’s network! Send each other tapes and hook each other up! I book 2 small clubs right now, and all funky tapes can go to Soma Lounge, 33 S. 3rd St., Philly Pa 19106 attn: Cozmic Cat. Keepin it real!
Filo’s<608 s 2nd street> (one of philly’s most respected chilled outlets) has managed to lure that funky Illadelph hiphop band “the Roots” drummer and mainstay “?uestlove”(Ahmir) to represent on the turntables for their Sat.nites… Nyc’s original acid-jazz heavyweights Giantstep record label djs Mr Chips and dj adam roll up hard alongside yours truly ,dj cozmic cat , holdin’ down a phat n’ funky monthly hiphopfunkin’ block party called “Staple” @ aqualounge <323 west girard Ave> on the 
northside of town… World reknowned producer and former Digable Planet dj King Britt of ovum records may relocate his mon. nite “back to basics” jam to the more intimate protolounge<125 walnut street> check King’s new album re-members only, a “musical loveletter to the 80′s” featuring Alison Moyet, Kathy Sledge, Martin Fry (ABC) and Grover Washington Jr… Supersonic .Dj Lorne also rocks the protolounge out each and every Friday with a fresh mix of house/hiphop and booty shakin’ joints… drum n’ bass is alive and well in philly! Loads of successful weeklies poppin’ up all over the city… Premier dnb production/promotion camp Substitution of sutpen’s jungle/world of drum and bass fame kicked off the 1st in a series of monthly events with LTJ Bukem ,mcConrad and pfm. check www.substitution.net for mo’ info)… International drum n bass superstar Bukem rocked it out, even though the lame -assed bouncers jacked him up against a wall for not having the correct wristband on… Philly bouncers, please!!! (club Envy was the venue with no one being much suprised by the weak behavior)… Note to all those dj/producers makin’ tracks there’s a new dubplate cuttin’ and masterin’ company in Phillytown “scrunch recordings” (www.scrunchrecordings.com), One of only a few in the states, has just opened it doors in the last month to djs/producers at large…t hey promise low rates and quick turnaround service! Finally!
A nice addition to the live internet music melting pot is “future int’l roadblock” show, wed. nite 9p-12a est. on www.selekta.com, for those of you wired up and fired up about online music and the Philly underground music scene.
Upcoming parties: Don’t Fake The Funk 7 year anniversary <Sunday May 28th, tune in for location.> One of Philly’s longest running parties, this blowout has a lineup of djs as far as Montreal, and Sweden, with locals Dozia (Ovum recordings) and Cozmic Cat (Yah baby!!).
June 1st The much anticipated arrival of dj Greyboy in Philly (a first for the SF native dj) he’ll be bringing his acid jazzy funky mix to Mediabureau Network studios <725 n 4th st>(http://www.mediabureau.com) with a party that will last till the cops come knocking… albums to check

Shuggie Ottis “inspiration information” : from the dude who penned “strawberry letter 23″ just go buy this! it’s been playing nonstop in my cd player for awhile. Like Al Green meets Stevie Wonder meets acoustic Lenny kravitz meets… I can’t describe it but it’s dope!
