Skiing and more
So let me start it with my ski trip in France. It was organised by my college, and I was really looking forward to this little go-for-a-spin, because a lot of cool people were expected to come. After we packed everything into the trailer, it was so full that it seemed like we were transporting a horse or something! We travelled 20 hours and it was so horrible, I couldn’t wait to get there. We arrived to France in the afternoon, the ski courses were all closed and the lift stopped as well. Because this was my first meeting with the snowboard I couldn’t wait till the next day, so I buckled up and went “snowboarding”. Well I wouldn’t call it snowboarding, rather me with a board trying not to have a fall, if so fall it forwards rather than landing on my butt. After 2 hours try-out I said goodbye to the ski-run for that day and painfully paced to our apartment. My bottom hurt so bad…. Hardly could I sit for a couple of days.
The next day didn’t bring me any success either, so I put it down for my lack of talent! I won’t be the next Tricia Byrnes. Maybe next year….

Even I couldn’t master my snowboard skills I had tons of fun, and got into extreme situations. It was early in the morning and I was waiting for the ski lift with one of my friends, Gabor. I hopped to the cabin so does he after placing his pair of skies to the side of the cabin. As the lift started taking us to the top we caught a sight of our friend Tamas. He was in the middle of the mountain between the rocks searching for his snowboard that he had left there the day before. He wanted to ride down on a black course but because of the little snow it was impossible, so he thought he’d rather leave his board up there and the next day he’d collect it. Well we were just noticing how he tried to find his board. We were up in the cabin laughed our ass off, it was so funny!!!! But the revenge had just come! We arrived to the top and Gabor was getting his pair of skies out of the side holder of the cabin, but there wasn’t a PAIR. There was only a single ski!!! We had no idea where could we lose it! It was mysterious! We got back to the cabin and went another round with it to have a look for the ski. Surprise surprise! It was right next to the spot where Tamas was collecting his snowboard! Probably the ski felt out of the holder when we were burst out into laughing!
Well we had to climbed the whole mountain which was about 3km upwards J or downwards, cuz we went from the top to the bottom. It was a nightmare actually. There were huge cliffs and everything was icy and slippery. On the whole I think I spent more time on my bottom sliding than walking. On our way we met a French guy, who was just walking around for fun and he helped us to regain possession of the ski! There was a part where we had to cross a cleft! I’m not kidding! We had to walk on a chunky piece of wood! And once we had to slide down on bottom and jump ourselves over a rock! Scary! But we made it! If I recall it is just a funny memory even it was heaps dangerous, I enjoyed it so much!
The rest of the trip was all the same, snowboarding – finally I managed to turn!!! – partying, playing cards a lot, having hardly any sleep. And another hated twenty-hour bus travelling!
Next year, don’t miss it!
Some changes went through our apartment. No no, we still have lots of parties. We bought a “csocsó”. Table-soccer in English. It’s just so huge, that we can even eat on it. It’s in Katinka’s room, and she regularly puts a lot of stuff in and on it! But we love our csocsó. When the college people got to know that we have a csocsó, all of a sudden everyone wanted to be our best friends and come to our apartment to play.
Gina’s boyfriend, Ben was here in Hungary for visiting. It was the first time we had met him and he is such an amazing person! He’s from Pennsylvania and he’s in a band that I couldn’t put in any categories. He played once in Budapest at Jani’s pub and twice in Szekesfehervar (where we go to college). He had a big success! People really rocked out! He played on my guitar!!!! Take a look! J And we borrowed the drum set from Pál Utcai Fiúk, an infamous Hungarian alternative band.
I just got back from Germany on Sunday. I spent a decent week in Nürnberg with my relos, it was just time for my annual shopping spree. So I bought up everything from clothes throughout lingering shoes CDs…etc. Now I’m pretty much lacking in funds! But I had a blast and I have a lot of super cool new clothes now, even though I have to chuck out half of my wardrobe to save some place for my new stuff. I also bought a whole bunch of CDs like Mauro Picotto, Tunnel Trance Force Vol20., Das AlbumII (Ministry of sound 2002), Azzio Da Bass, Dido, Natalie Imbruglia, K’s Choice, Portishead, Goo Goo Dolls, Hoobastank, Magic Dirt, Staind, P.O.D., Puddle of Mudd, Incubus, Techno 2002, and …. Birtney Spears’ lates album…. It was on sale! And I like the song I’m a slave for you…pam pam pam… but I have to admit that I didn’t become a Britney fan AT ALL!!!!!!!! And the album is not even a little bit enjoyable. A couple of “okay” songs that’s it. But I’m super stocked for the CDs and the other stuff.
I had my car repainted, it’s still red, but now it’s so shinny, they sprayed it. Yah, very important! And as Shannon mentioned as well spring is coming up here as well, so the weather is finally getting better, like 20 C or so, and everybody gets their cabrios out and have their favourite tracks roared. But well you may admit it’s a cool thing to do! At least you enjoy it. And if you can’t bare the music which comes out of the car that is waiting next to you, in front of the red lights with a roaring engine, trying to get you in a race, just turn yours up! And go!
In 5 months there will be the Sziget Festival. It’s time to give in your demos if you want your band playing in the festival! Attention! If you are non-Hungarian you can still apply for playing…. www.sziget.hu
