Loving the Summer

Hey all my sexy friends out there! I’m here again, updating. I know it’s a bit late again, but I have got so much going on with my life right now.

First of all I completed my first year at college, so I am pretty damn happy not going to school for 3 more months. This summer offers us lotza parties, festivals and concerts.

We have already started checking out the pubs down the Balaton with Gina. You gotta know that the Balaton is the “Hungarian Sea”. Actually it’s only a lake, but it is just huge. In every year lot of tourists visit, mainly from Germany and Austria. Sometimes you hear there more German speaking then Hungarian. But the Balaton is really a good place to go, especially for summer. There are always big parties non-stop, and the nightlife is just crazy. Love it! So our first stop was in Siófok. If I had to nominate a city at the Balaton for being the loudest and liveliest, Siófok would be the one. There have been many pubs, bars, and open-air clubs. Remaining at the Balaton, there was a huge MotorBike Festival in Alsóörs. And as I love bikes, I just had to be there. It was a 3-day-long festival and I got to know so many people. I have ridden on the best bikes ever! We had a blast.

Then back to Budapest, the night life is going crazy at the moment. I think I haven’t seen as many people partying out as nowadays. The best open-air clubs in Budapest – it can be Monday, Friday or even Sunday these places are always packed with foreigners and locals. All of them are free of charge:

Partside (www.partside.hu)

It is a very intimate open-air club, if you like techno and house that’s the place for you. They have an open swimming pool, so you can splash into it any times. Partside is the best on the very hot summer nights.

Rudas Romkert:

Romkert (Remains-Garden) is where you find the most foreigners. It seems to be their favourite place to go. You can also meet some really sexy guys with even sexier sporty motorbikes.J Maybe that’s the main reason I am going there?

The recommended outfit and gear: You are the coolest if you park with a BMW, and put on some fancy clothes. Oh well!

Coolest: If the weather is nice, double amount of people want to get in as the place can hold. The booby prize of the people stuck outside is that the club is in a ditch: one can take stock of the “new consignment” from the wall easilyJ

And if it rains: Sucked in! Happy taxi drivers!

Rio Café:

Rio is just down the foot of the Petofi-Bridge. That’s the most crowded open-air club and you find the sexiest people here. Everyday different kind of music. I really love this place. They have the best cocktails, and the place just looks awesome!

Woman/n: Overflew! Who can not understand, why the foreigners state that the Hungarian women are the most beautiful, just visit this place, and get intoxicated – of the sight.

Dance: The DJ is located in a small hut mixing-scratching, around him the ones are “alive and dance” are dancing.

Zöld Pardon (www.zp.hu)

The Green Pardon is a lot more underground then the other places. They have live concerts every night and 2 dancefloors with different kinds of music on each.

The recommended outfit and gear: If you take more money, you’d better buy some playing clothes ( in case you ended up on the ground, alone or not…) What is by no means recommended is to smuggle in some booze or weapon: bodily search at the entrance. Nevertheless you get in, they kick you out, and would never let you in again: and they are serious!

West Balkán

West Balkans is a funny name for an open-air club. But the way you get to this club is really Balkan. Well it’s kinda a joke, but true as well. So this place is near a dam and you need to walk or drive across a really dusty and dirty rood. But as you got there I promise you wont regret it! Even though WB is not a place that I prefer, all of my friends that I’ve taken there, seem to love the club very much. You hear a lot of drum’n’bass and that kind of music here. Lot of artists and artistic people go there. Some Hungarian actors or musicians often can be found here as well.

Rác kert:

The place of getting loaded for the intelligentsia in Budapest. Nice area, there are no all-eared neighbours nearby. In the afternoon cat-, dog-, child-stroking idyllic, later on long talks in the purple foggy nites.

Dance: hehe, there is none!

Woman/n: Artists with big scarves, high school demons. Those men who rather operate with the ” I rather talk her head off, cuz I’m scared of dancing” tactics, can find a berth easily.

The recommended outfit and gear: Spend 30 mins in front of the mirror, and leave only when you look like someone who spent only 30 secs with dressing up!

Coolest: During the Soccer World Cup, the folks cheer to the Portugals in front of the big screens. Very rarely some bands play between the tables and chairs, but they are only annoy people! Two bars, min 5 mins standing in line.

Okay and now all the upcoming events for the rest of the summer:

Pepsi Island Festival(www.sziget.hu) 31st July- 7th August. I think I can not emphasise this event enough times. If you live around Hungary, you shouldn’t miss out.

Bizarre Festival: 16-18 August Even though this festival is in Germany, I think that wins the Palm for the best festival in Europe. Check out www.bizarre.de for the bands and events. I hope this year I’ll make it there tooJ

Budapest Parade: 24th August When whole Budapest marches through the main streets. It is the totally mee-too of the Love Parade of Berlin. Oh well, we gotta have one too!

Eastern Exposure: 19 July. For the people who are into some trance and dance. Best DJs are playing everywhere from the world: Sasha/Chriss/John Digweed/Frank Lorber/Marco Carola/Dave Angel/Lee Burridge/Sander Kleinenberg/Surprise/Anthony Pappa and many more. For more info check out www.bpm.hu

Surfing:

As you know I am really into surfing – not with the big damn sail, just with a board and big wavesJ – I should tell you all the upcoming surfing events in Europe.

11 to 14 July 2002 San Sebastian, Spain – O’Neill Longboard classic

5 to 11 August 2002 Anglet, France – O’Neill Angels Challenge

26 Aug 1 Sept Ericeira, Portugal – O’Neill Ericeira Pro

More info : www.oneilleurope.com

So if you are around, you should just go down the beach and you will see some amazing surfers.

Well that was all for now. I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer. I am planning on going to Germany soon for a year or more. But that’s a secret.

Hugs,

Kata
